Emily Friel
Hi! I'm Emily, a senior public relations student at Penn State. I am graduating in May of 2025, and I am looking for a position on a dynamic team that shares impactful, positive content across various platforms. I have experience creating content for Major League Soccer, Penn State Athletics, Penn State College of Human Health and Development as well as for the Cape Cod Baseball League. I am passionate about ideating, creating and publishing content for a diverse range of audiences. Below I have attached the work I have done during my past internships.
Major League Soccer
I worked as a social media intern for MLS during the summer of 2024 in their New York City headquarters. During my time there, I created content across TikTok, X, Instagram and Facebook. I gained hands-on experience with Adobe Photoshop and was able to create my own graphics that got shared across MLS channels.
Penn State Athletics
I worked as a Strategic Communications intern for Penn State Athletics starting in August of 2023 until December of 2024, during both my junior and senior year of school. I worked closely with men's soccer and football covering live games on X, Instagram, and Facebook. I would also write game recaps to be published on gopsusports.com. College of HHD
During the summer of 2022, I worked as a social media intern for Penn State's College of Human Health and Development. I was able to conduct research on what made successful content successful, and was able to analyze KPI's and metrics from Hootsuite and Meta Analytics. I was also able to create my own content on Adobe to publish across their channels.
Orleans Firebirds
The summer after my freshman year of college I worked as a digital marketing intern for the Cape Cod Baseball League team, the Orleans Firebirds. In this position, I strategized content planning and utilized Mailchimp to share weekly newsletters with fans and the community. I managed all of their social media channels including Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok.
